Happiness. Diversity. Fun. Belonging. Joy. These are the foundational elements of a healthy community, and they're what we try to cultivate across Shiplake communities, each and every day. From our littlest residents to our most senior individuals, families of all shapes and sizes, and neighbours that quickly become friends, everyone is a valued member of the Shiplake community, and we try and show our appreciation by going above and beyond to provide an exceptional resident experience.
One of our recent initiatives was our Barbie Furniture Giveaway, an event that saw two of our younger residents, Katie Penley and Octavia Clarke, win big thanks to heartfelt submissions by their moms, Ashley and Kelsey.
We invited all Shiplake residents to enter the contest for a chance to win an amazing Barbie furniture giveaway – an assortment of Barbie-themed interior items that included pink rugs, sequined pillows, Barbie fashion, Barbie posters, and two beautiful, upholstered chairs in Barbie's favourite hue – hot pink. To win, entrants simply had to submit a short explanation of why they would love their room to be decked out in all things Malibu.
We received over 100 entries, with enthusiastic stories about young residents with a love for Barbie, or a flair for interior design, or even an obsession with all things pink. It was a tough decision, but in the end, we were touched by Ashley and Kelsey's stories - one about a young girl seeking a warm and welcoming space to feel at home; the other, about a sweet and sassy kid who's adopted the Property Management Team as her personal crew, and thought that the Barbie set would make her 5th birthday "the best day ever!"
This was just one of the many special events, activities, and contests we hold throughout the year at Shiplake, each one designed to celebrate our residents and make them feel inspired, welcomed, connected, and appreciated.
