This list from Good Housekeeping offers recipes for 8 Homemade Cleaners That Actually Work, and most involve little more than white vinegar, water, and baking soda. What could be easier? Whether it's for your showerhead (vinegar and water), drains (baking soda and vinegar), stovetop (baking soda and oil), or mattress (baking soda and essential oil), nearly everything in your suite can be cleaned without any harsh chemicals. Better for you, better for the environment.
Budget-friendly décor
When everything is spic and span, it's time to turn your focus to your décor. You don't need a massive overhaul to experience a breath of fresh air, all it takes are some small swaps to feel like you're in a brand-new space.
For instance, with temperatures rising, now is the time to put away those heavy winter blankets (give them a good wash first, so they'll be fresh and clean when you pull them out next fall) and swap them out for a light throw. Speaking of, throw pillows are another easy (and low-cost) way to make your suite feel fresh and new, maybe even playing with a fun colour palette for the spring and summer months. Put away anything winter-themed (bye-bye Nutcracker!) and bring out items that remind you of long, sun-filled days on a patio. One of our favourite hacks is a vase filled with fresh blooms – it's a cheap and easy way to brighten up your space and bring a piece of the outdoors into your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room – wherever you want an extra reason to smile.
